Nate is the Bariatric Program Coordinator and Nurse Case Manager for Windber Surgery Center


Nathan Sann, FNP-BC, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Scranton in Scranton PA, before joining the US Army as a Nurse Corps Officer. He served in several positions of increasing importance. His previous experience includes Bariatric Program Coordinator and Case Manager for general surgery services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He has also worked in executive nursing handling the healthcare for the White House, Cabinet Members and General Flag Officers in the Military District of Washington. His past clinical experience includes, oncology, medical/surgical nursing and served as an ICU nurse in Iraq. 


After completing his service with the US Army, Nathan completed his formal education and received his Masters of Nursing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nathan is a board-certified nurse practitioner with almost a decade of specialized expertise and research in bariatric and surgical weight loss patient care.


Prior to joining Advanced Surgical Partners of VA, Nathan provided pre- and post-operative care for bariatric patients at Alleghenies Surgical in Windber,

PA. As member of Advanced Surgical Partners of Virginia, Nate provides both preoperative and long-term follow up for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients. He has developed a medical weight management program for the program as well. 


Nate is very active in the national organization, ASMBS. Nate is the ASMBS Integrated Health Secretary. He has held positions as the chairman of the Integrated Health Communication Committee, Co-Chair of the IH Membership Committee, Integrated Health Executive Council, Co-Chair of the 30th Anniversary Committee and various other ASMBS Task Force committees. He also serves as a preceptor faculty for other practice groups looking to develop bariatric programs.
