I have worked in a variety of roles in Emergency, Critical Care and Trauma nursing for over twenty five years, including staff nurse, educator, Nurse Practitioner and Program Manager.  Currently I am the Trauma Program Manager for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.  With a dedicated team, we successfully achieved Verification from the American College of Surgeons as the state’s first Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and subsequent state verification as a Pediatric Trauma Center.  I participated in the development of state designation criteria for pediatric trauma centers in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  I led the development of the first national nursing certification in trauma, the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) and serve as the Exam Construction and Review Committee Chairperson for the TCRN exam.  I am very active in prehospital provider education.  I am currently enrolled in the VCU School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice program.  The focus of my doctoral project is to promote mental health in first responders.
