Lauren Dorsey is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  She provides treatment for adolescents and adults at our West End office.  Lauren utilizes a collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered approach to developing a personalized treatment plan for each of her clients.

Lauren received both her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her Master’s degree as a Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Virginia.  Prior to joining CCA, Lauren worked for 6 years at VCU Health on their adult inpatient psychiatry units.  Her clinical training included experience in a Crisis Stabilization Unit, community mental health setting, and an outpatient practice serving children, adolescents, and adults.

With her inpatient and outpatient experience, Lauren’s clinical interests include mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, as well as anxiety disorders, schizoaffective disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.  She works to understand the root cause of symptoms to determine the best course of treatment, and believes medication management is just one facet of successful psychiatric care.  Lauren regularly encourages therapy, self-care, and the development of coping strategies as important components to achieve clients’ treatment goals.  Lauren also provides LGBTQ competent and affirming care.

Lauren’s personal interests include gardening, experimenting in the kitchen, spending time with friends and family, and exploring all that Richmond has to offer.  [or could include cooking, hiking, reading, playing with her dog, or whatever else sounds fun/cool/unique]
