Chelsea Preuss is a certified child life specialist for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s radiology department. After learning about Child Life while studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Chelsea decided to pursue a career in the field. Chelsea obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After completing her studies, Chelsea then went on to obtain her child life internship at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, ID. There she gained experience in various pediatric settings including medical imaging, surgery, and inpatient units. In 2013, Chelsea became a certified child life specialist from the Association of Child Life Professionals.

In 2015, Chelsea joined the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU working in the inpatient unit providing psychosocial support for infants and toddlers on the acute care unit. Before long, Chelsea began providing support for patients of all ages in the acute care setting and branching out to radiology.  In March of 2019, Chelsea transitioned to radiology, developing a full-time program to provide psychosocial support for pediatric patients in all modalities of medical imaging. While working full time as a CCLS, Chelsea earned her Master’s Degree in Child Life from Bank Street College of Education in 2019.
