Dr. Deborah Kuhls is a trauma and critical care surgeon at UMC’s Adult and Pediatric Trauma Centers, is Professor of Surgery and Interim Assistant Dean for Research at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLVShe is Chair of the Trauma Prevention Coalition, a coalition of 12 national and international professional organizations, which collaborate to develop effective strategies in injury/violence prevention and advocacy while minimizing redundant and duplicative activities.   She is the immediate past Chair of the American College of Surgeon’s COT Injury Prevention and Control Committee, where she led the development of a consensus-based public health approach to firearm injuries. She is the Nevada PI of the Western Regional Alliance for Pediatric Emergency Management and Co-PI on “Bridging the Gaps: A Multi-Center, Prospective Study on Individual and Community Level Risk Factors for Non-Lethal Firearm Injuries in the U.S.” Awarded to the American College of Surgeons by the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research (NCGVR).
