Megan Maltby, MSW

Megan Maltby graduated with her Masters in Social Work in 2000 from VCU and began working as the Kidney/pancreas and Heart/lung Transplant Social Worker. She has now worked with heart and lung transplant and general cardiology for the past 19 years. During this time, she has also been involved in research through the transplant program, including developing a tool to better evaluate social risk among LVAD candidates, which is in the process of being validated.

In addition to her role at VCUHS, Megan serves as an adjunct instructor at the VCU School of Social Work, where she teaches Senior Social Work Practice Fall 441 and Spring 442, which enables her to stay grounded in the essentials of the profession while training future social workers.

In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has a 10 year old daughter, Ella, who enjoys year round swim, which is where much of that spare time is spent!
