Audrey R. Roberson is the Nurse Manager of the Medical Respiratory ICU at VCU Health System (formerly MCV Hospitals) in Richmond, Virginia where she supervises over 120 team members in the care of complex, critically ill patients, including COVID-19 patients


She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from New York University and eventually relocated to Richmond, Virginia, where she completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)In 2018, Dr. Roberson’s academia journey culminated with her achievement of her PhD in Nursing from VCU. Her almost 34-year professional nursing career has spanned across the roles of acute, progressive, and critical care nurse, educator, scientist, and leader.  Clinical areas of practice have included medical-surgery, cardiovascular/transplant surgery, coronary intensive care, and post-anesthesia care.  She has served as a manuscript reviewer for journals, poster and podium presenter and is the co-author of a book chapter in Perianesthesia Nursing.  She has also held Course and Adjunct Faculty positions at VCU’s School of Nursing in the undergraduate and graduate programs and worked as a legal nurse consultant.


Dr. Roberson is the recipient of the VCU School of Nursing Martha M. Borlick Research Award, the Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders’ Sara Tatem Scholarship Award and the Transformational Leadership and Excellence in Collaborative Practice Award by VCU Health.  She maintains her certification as a post-anesthesia nurse and memberships in the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing.  None of the above would have been possible without her foundational relationship with GOD, first, and the support of her husband, their two children, her mother and many other family and friends.
