Andrew Thorpe has been in the health and wellness field for over twenty-two years. Following undergraduate studies in 2000, Andrew became a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine, followed by a long and rigorous journey to become a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor, that led to owning and directing a yoga center in Randolph, NJ. Building upon the foundation of personal training and teaching yoga, Andrew went back to school to study physical therapy at the University of St Augustine for Health Sciences, where he received a doctorate in physical therapy in 2011. After graduating physical therapy school, Andrew has worked in several clinical settings including acute care, inpatient rehab, and home health, where his passion has been working with the neurologic patient population. In 2013, to enrich his education and deepen his passion for working with the neurologic patient population, Andrew embarked on a journey to become a board-certified neurological clinical specialist, studying with the Neuro Recovery Training Institute, at Frazier Rehab in Louisville, KY, successfully passing the exam in 2016. Since joining the team at VCU Health in 2019, Andrew continues his passion for working with the acute neurological patient population and is a dedicated life-long learner.
