Kathryn Funk is the Stroke Registry Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Health. She also works as a NeuroCritical Care Nurse Practitioner at a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Previously, she served as the Neuroscience Program Coordinator for Primary Stroke Center and an Acute Stroke Ready facility for 8 years and has worked as a nurse in the neuro ICU and stroke/telemetry unit. Additionally, Kathryn has worked as Stroke Reviewer for the Joint Commission for the past 5 years. She holds Masters in Acute Care Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and in Nurse Executive Leadership, as well as certifications in Stroke and Neuroscience. She is the past Chair of the Virginia Stroke Coordinators’ Consortium, and an inaugural member of the VA Dept. of Health Stroke Quality Improvement Initiative.

She is passionate about raising community awareness about stroke and is also a frequent presenter on stroke topics at local, state and regional conferences.
