David J. Friedel, MD, FAAP, FACP

 

Dr. Friedel graduated from Brown University (1995) with a B.S. in biophysics and earned his M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine (2000).  He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine – Pediatric at VCU Health (2000 – 2004), where he also served an additional year as Chief Resident in Pediatrics (2004 – 2005).  He remained at VCU Health to complete a combined fellowship in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Infectious Disease (2005 - 2009).  He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases, as well as Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine Infectious Diseases.  He joined the VCU faculty in 2009 as a member of Division of Infectious Diseases, where he serves as an expert resource for HIV care and travel medicine.  In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is actively engaged in graduate medical education, serving as the Program Director for Med-Peds Residency Program for the past 8 years.
