Beth Torres, PhD, RN, CCRN, TCRN has worked in critical care for 40 years in a variety of capacities, including staff nurse, clinician, nursing leader, and currently works as a Trauma Nurse Clinician at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center, a Level I trauma center, in Richmond, VA. As a trauma nurse clinician, Dr. Torres functions as a clinical nurse specialist with an emphasis on process improvement and best practice implementation. Dr. Torres initiated process improvement for rib fracture patients in 2017. In collaboration with her VCU colleagues, she has published three articles on rib fractures and chest wall injuries since 2019.
Dr. Torres maintains her Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Trauma Care Registered Nurse (TCRN) certifications as well as teaches in certification review courses. She serves on the STN TCRN Review course committee. She is an instructor for ACLS, Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC), Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN), and Rural Trauma Team Development Course.
Dr. Torres is a member of the Society of Trauma Nurses and American Association Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and serves on the board for the local AACN chapter. Dr. Torres serves as a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Critical Care Nursing.
Dr. Torres has presented at local, regional, and national conferences on a wide variety of leadership and clinical topics, including chest wall injury.
