Bio

 

Dr. Susan Wolver graduated from Wake Forest Medical School in 1989.  After serving 10 years as an Air Force Flight Surgeon, she came back to do a residency in internal at VCU.  She stayed on as faculty initially in primary care and medical informatics.

She became Board Certified in Obesity Medicine in 2014 and is the inaugural Director of the VCU Medical Weight Loss Program.  She and her team have helped more than 3000 patients lose weight and improve their health.  In addition, she has done research and published on obesity and fatty liver disease.

She has been chosen for Richmond Magazine’s Top Doc ten times and in 2018 received the ACP NATIONAL AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED CONTRIBUTIONS TO BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE for distinguished contributions to the integration of behavioral medicine with traditional medicine. In 2020 the Medical Weight Loss Program was voted as the #1 Medical Weight Loss Program in the Richmond Times Dispatch’s Best of awards.
