Bio – Dan Grinnan
An active pulmonary and critical care provider, Dr. Grinnan is Interim Chair and Professor in the Division of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the VCU School of Medicine. He is also the Dianne Harris Wright Endowed Chair in Pulmonology and the Director of VCU Health’s accredited comprehensive care center for pulmonary hypertension. Before assuming the role of Interim Chair of the pulmonary and critical care division in December 2024, he had served as the Associate Chair of Clinical Operations for the pulmonary and critical care division.
Dr. Grinnan led the VCU Pulmonary Hypertension program to accreditation by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) in 2014, and he’s served as Director as the program has continued to achieve the highest level of accreditation. He served as Chair of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Registry (PHAR) Steering Committee from 2019-2022, growing this multicenter registry through the COVID pandemic and helping the PHAR to incorporate multiple NIH funded ancillary studies. He then served as Chair of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association’s Accreditation Committee from 2022-2024, growing the accreditation program to nearly 100 accredited centers while providing oversite. At this time, he serves as a member of PHA’s Scientific Leadership Council and is the Chair of the PHA Oversite Committee. He is active within the American Thoracic Society, having served as a mentor for early career physicians for many years, as well as an active member of the Pulmonary Circulation Assembly Planning Committee. He is active in clinical research in the field of pulmonary hypertension.
