Christoph Lecznar MSN, APRN, ACCNS-AG, CCRN, TCRN is an Adult Gerontology Acute Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. He began his nursing career as a new graduate at VCU Health where he served in the Surgical Trauma ICU for 8 years in a variety of clinical roles. Currently, he serves as an Enterprise CNS on the Clinical Excellence Team. Additionally, he is clinical faculty for the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Christoph received an Associate degree in nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in 2015, a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019, and received a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia in 2023. He maintains specialty certifications as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Critical Care, and trauma-certified registered nurse.
Christoph is a member of several national professional organizations including American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, American Nurses Association, Society of Trauma Nurses, and the Infusion Nurses Society. He also is a member of local state chapters of ANA, NACNS, and Greater Richmond Area Chapter of AACN of which he has served on the board since 2018 and is currently President. Christoph has volunteered with AACN National to review and revise the CCRN exam and currently serves as co-chair on the Clinical Advisory Work Group.
Christoph was the recipient of the Patricia Bernal RN to BSN scholarship in 2018, the Betsy Bampton RN Award in 2019, and was recognized as a Virginia Nurses Foundation 40 under 40 Trailblazer in 2023, and VNF Leadership Excellence in Education Trailblazer in 2024. Christoph most recently led an interdisciplinary Taskforce on CLABSI reduction across the VCU Health enterprise which led to a 26% reduction in CLABSI and $1.46 million in cost avoidance.
