COVID-19 and other social factors have accelerated the public's call for health equity. This colloquium is a forum for interdisciplinary and intersectoral participants to understand the state of health equity in Virginia, explore obstacles to fair and just health care, and to generate policy solutions that favor the health of all Virginians.

This is a half-day event that will consist of one general informational/introductory session (1.25 hours) that all participants will attend. Following the general session, participants will have a choice of attending one of three moderated breakout sessions (2.0 hours).

1. Articulate a more comprehensive and standardized working definition of health equity.
2. Discuss one or more policy initiatives that would advance Virginia’s health agenda.
3. Develop a stronger personal mindset and ability to persuade others about the issue, strategy, and desired outcomes of improved health using insights from national equity studies.
4. Build a coalition of interprofessional and intersectoral colleagues to gain perspective, share agendas, and influence social change.

Participants must attend the program and complete the post-activity evaluation within 45 days of the event date in order to receive credit.

NOTE FOR PHARMACISTS & PHARMACY TECHNICIANS: Upon closing of the online evaluation, VCU Health Continuing Education will upload the pharmacy-related continuing education information to CPE Monitor within 60 days. Per ACPE rules, VCU Health Continuing Education does not have access nor the ability to upload credits requested after the evaluation closes. It is the responsibility of the pharmacist or pharmacy technician to provide the correct information [NABP ePID and DOB (in MMDD format)] in order to receive credit for participating in a continuing education activity.

 VCU Health Continuing Education is an AOTA Approved Provider of professional development. Course approval ID#2562. This distance learning-interactive course is offered at 0.325 CEUs (Introductory Level, Professional Issues and Foundational Knowledge). AOTA does not endorse specific course content, products, or clinical procedures.

3.25 CE credits will be awarded for psychologists attending the entire program. Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, VCU Health Continuing Education is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. VCU Health maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 3.25 continuing education credits.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 3.25 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.

Complaint Policy and Resolution Process
All complaints must be made in writing to [email protected].

All complaints will be logged into the complaint log. The Director, Continuing Education will attempt to resolve the complaint within the first contact, when possible, and will respond to the client and customer's concerns within 5 business days of the initial complaint. At the time of the first contact, Director, Continuing Education will inform the complainant if more time will be needed to research the complaint.

If the complaint is still unresolved after communication with the Director, Continuing Education, or if the initial complaint is not addressed in a timely manner, the complainant may contact the President & CEO, UHS-PEP. The President & CEO will then contact the complainant and endeavor to resolve the complaint within 10 business days after being contacted.

The complaint log will be regularly reviewed to identify areas of operations and service that may require improvement. The Director, Continuing Education will research reoccurring complaint matters and recommend process and procedure changes, when appropriate. These changes will be noted on the Complaint Resolution Log, and any necessary policy and/or procedure updates will be made within 15 business days thereafter.
