Maintaining a level II trauma designation requires that trauma specific education to staff and our community is conducted annually. Area hospital staff and EMS providers, although currently competent, need to be updated on the current standards of care of the trauma patient in order to provide quality care to the citizens and visitors of our community

1. Discuss trauma assessment and treatment factors relevant to military populations
2. Address culture, prevalence and type of traumatic events, typical treatment modalities, and other aspects of providing evidence-based trauma treatment to military populations in Military Treatment Facility and civilian treatment contexts
3. Review pregnancy physiology that impacts trauma management
4. Describe types of trauma
5. Optimize trauma care in pregnancy
6. Discuss types of trauma in psychiatric populations to include autism and dementia
7. How to approach a patient in this population
8. Safety planning with families
9. Differentiate the level of spinal cord injury based on a patient’s motor function.
10. Define 3 conditions associated with autonomic disfunction after spinal cord injury
11. Discuss the differences between accidental hypothermia versus trauma-induced hypothermia
12. Explain the relationship between trauma, hypothermia and the increase in morbidity and mortality with small decreases in core temperature.
13. Describe some methods to effectively manage trauma-induced hypothermia in the prehospital environment.
14. Discuss the gap in trauma-induced hypothermia education and training.
15. Review the anatomical and physiological differences of pediatric patients.
16. Review common mechanisms of pedaitric trauma
17. Present common pediatric trauma patterns of injuries
18. Discuss the special case of Non-Accidental Trauma
19. Increase the knowledge and effect of caringiving while offering practical stress-reduction tips and strategies.
20. Have a better appreciation of the number and specialties involved in trauma care.

All complaints will be logged into the complaint log. The Director, Continuing Education will attempt to resolve the complaint within the first contact, when possible, and will respond to the client and customer's concerns within 5 business days of the initial complaint. At the time of the first contact, Director, Continuing Education will inform the complainant if more time will be needed to research the complaint.

If the complaint is still unresolved after communication with the Director, Continuing Education, or if the initial complaint is not addressed in a timely manner, the complainant may contact the President & CEO, UHS-PEP. The President & CEO will then contact the complainant and endeavor to resolve the complaint within 10 business days after being contacted.

The complaint log will be regularly reviewed to identify areas of operations and service that may require improvement. The Director, Continuing Education will research reoccurring complaint matters and recommend process and procedure changes, when appropriate. These changes will be noted on the Complaint Resolution Log, and any necessary policy and/or procedure updates will be made within 15 business days thereafter.
