Listen as our esteemed guest Dr. Malathi Srinivasan (Stanford University) discusses how to make teaching engaging on any virtual platform. We cover how to turn your in person lectures into digestible, entertaining virtual content, while reminding yourself of the reason you are teaching in the first place.

1. Recognize the elements involved in teaching remotely and effectively and the pitfalls that can occur during virtual learning
2. List best practices for successful remote teaching and strategies that educators can employ to harness the attention of the audience when teaching remotely and effectively deliver didactic content
3. Describe a framework or approach to use when creating virtual curriculum or adapting previously created materials to the remote learning environment.

There is no registration fee to participate.  Learners must listen to the entire podcast, review resource materials, score at least 66% on the post-test, and complete an activity evaluation in order to receive credit.

 

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by The Curbsiders and VCU Health. VCU Health Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

VCU Health Continuing Education designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1 medical knowledge MOC point in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

It is the responsibility of the participant to provide the correct information [ABIM ID Number and DOB (in MMDD format)] in order to receive MOC credit for participating in a CE activity. 

VCU Health Continuing Education has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

NOTE FOR PHARMACISTS & PHARMACY TECHNICIANS: Upon closing of the online evaluation, VCU Health CE will upload the pharmacy-related continuing education information to CPE Monitor within 60 days. Per ACPE rules, VCU Health CE does not have access nor the ability to upload credits requested after the evaluation closes. It is the responsibility of the pharmacist or pharmacy technician to provide the correct information [NABP ePID and DOB (in MMDD format)] in order to receive credit for participating in a CE activity.
