2026 Odyssey Conference: Educating the Acute and Critical Care Nurse

The Odyssey Conference is designed to meet the current learning needs of nurses involved in the care of acute and critically ill patients, continuously advancing their practice while also fostering personal resiliency. The theme of this year's conference is “Act on Purpose," focusing on lifting nurses up to work together and meet the needs of their teams, patients, and families.

1. Discuss knowledge related to acute and critical care and how to impact the nursing workforce that they will use to change or enhance their practice.
2. Describe experience with hospice staff following end of life experience
3. Explain current methods behind transformational nursing leadership development at the bedside
4. Review innovative strategies to ensure retention of critical and acute care nurses
5. Examine methods of integrating best practices into technological clinical simulations
6. Review updates on interpreting abnormal cardiac rhythms with new ECG developments

Call for Abstracts

Do you have an innovation in health care to share?

We invite researchers and clinicians at all levels to submit abstracts on improving patient experience and clinician satisfaction, better outcomes in population health and cost reduction. Submit an abstract: here.

Submission Deadline: February 6, 2026

Notifications regarding acceptance of submitted abstracts will be emailed by February 13, 2026.

NOTE: Posters will be displayed on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Authors must register for the conference to present their poster presentations.

In support of improving patient care, VCU Health Continuing Education is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Complaint Policy and Resolution Process
All complaints must be made in writing to [email protected].

All complaints will be logged into the complaint log. The Director, Continuing Education will attempt to resolve the complaint within the first contact, when possible, and will respond to the client and customer's concerns within 5 business days of the initial complaint. At the time of the first contact, Director, Continuing Education will inform the complainant if more time will be needed to research the complaint.

If the complaint is still unresolved after communication with the Director, Continuing Education, or if the initial complaint is not addressed in a timely manner, the complainant may contact the President & CEO, UHS-PEP. The President & CEO will then contact the complainant and endeavor to resolve the complaint within 10 business days after being contacted.

The complaint log will be regularly reviewed to identify areas of operations and service that may require improvement. The Director, Continuing Education will research reoccurring complaint matters and recommend process and procedure changes, when appropriate. These changes will be noted on the Complaint Resolution Log, and any necessary policy and/or procedure updates will be made within 15 business days thereafter.
