Overview
Each year ImmunizeVA’s annual meeting provides an opportunity for the healthcare team to learn about immunization trends in the state and build new skills to implement promising and best practices. Every year our members identify top areas of interest within the field of immunizations to focus presentations and sessions on. The theme of this year’s meeting is 'Building Immunity, Building Community’. Virginia has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels of routine immunizations, increasing the risk of an outbreak of a vaccine preventable disease. Vaccine hesitancy and skepticism have existed for decades, but many providers have not experienced the results of vaccine refusal through an outbreak of a vaccine-preventable disease, such as measles or pertussis. This could result in a lack of understanding in how to even identify these diseases, as well as minimize the sense of urgency in addressing vaccine hesitancy or refusal. These risks are compounded by a new set of challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The sessions presented will discuss current challenges practitioners are facing in Virginia and provide tools on how to address questions and hesitancy on vaccination with patients and through policy.

Objectives
  1. Explain the current challenges to maintaining routine vaccination rates in Virginia.
  2. Identify macro and micro strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and refusal in their communities.
  3. List resources in tools available to promote vaccines to different audiences, including policy makers and patients.

Complaint Policy and Resolution Process

All complaints will be logged into the complaint log. The Director, Continuing Education will attempt to resolve the complaint within the first contact, when possible, and will respond to the client and customer's concerns within 5 business days of the initial complaint. At the time of the first contact, Director, Continuing Education will inform the complainant if more time will be needed to research the complaint.

If the complaint is still unresolved after communication with the Director, Continuing Education, or if the initial complaint is not addressed in a timely manner, the complainant may contact the President & CEO, UHS-PEP. The President & CEO will then contact the complainant and endeavor to resolve the complaint within 10 business days after being contacted.

The complaint log will be regularly reviewed to identify areas of operations and service that may require improvement. The Director, Continuing Education will research reoccurring complaint matters and recommend process and procedure changes, when appropriate. These changes will be noted on the Complaint Resolution Log, and any necessary policy and/or procedure updates will be made within 15 business days thereafter.
